The Lady Cardinal Softball Team demonstrated remarkable resilience in the 2024 season. Despite a heart-wrenching state tournament defeat the previous year, Coach Shirey's team bounced back, securing the program's fourth state title. They also were the champions of the Harrison Tournament and Farmington Tournament, concluding the season with an impressive 23-5 record.
Many of the ladies were honored with post-season awards. Senior centerfielder and lead-off hitter Reese Shirey was nominated All-State, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Prep 1st Team, and All-Conference. Junior shortstop Morgan Uher was voted All-State, All-Conference, and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Prep 2nd Team. First baseman Mallory Sills and 3rd baseman Justine Davidson were selected All-State Tournament, with freshman pitcher Morgan Reaves being named State Tournament MVP.
Other Cardinals received accolades as well. Designated hitter Amia Carr, left fielder and pitcher Kennedy Griggs, right fielder Bella Hulsey, and second baseman Katie Fleming were all nominated All-Conference. Davidson, Carr, Hulsey, Griggs, and catcher Kinley Meek all signed National Letters of Intent to play softball at the collegiate level next season.
For Jason Shirey it was his third title as a head coach and first at Farmington. He was also selected Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Coach of the Year, AHSCA West All-Star Coach, and AHSCA Softball Coach of the Year. Shirey stated, "We were a team in the truest sense. It took contributions from everyone to win this state title. I would like to thank Coach Morgan, who is retiring this year, and Coach Clark for all of their help. I would also like to thank the players and parents for all of their hard work throughout the last few years to make all of this possible."
