Farmington — The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) announced that January is Arkansas's School Board Member Recognition Month. School board members play an essential role in our community. Farmington School District will join other districts in Arkansas in celebrating our board by thanking them for the time, talents, and knowledge they bring to our district and for their commitment to the families and children of our community.
“Our board members assume a crucial role in representing our students and advocating for public education,” said Superintendent Jon Laffoon. “We are very proud of our board members and appreciate the time they dedicate to ensuring the best for our students. Arkansas School Board Recognition Month is a great time to recognize them and celebrate their accomplishments, such as three completed building projects and modernizing our bus fleet. The board also provided retention bonuses and raises for all staff this year.”
Mr. Laffoon added that elected school board members give our community a voice in education decision-making. “While we make a special effort to show our appreciation in January, their contribution is a year-round commitment.”
The members serving our district are as follows:
Travis Warren - President
Amy Hill - Vice President
Lori Blew - Secretary
Josh Petree
Mark Vaughn
Please take the time to thank these individuals for their time and commitment to the Farmington School District!
